Holiday Refrigerator!

Holiday Refrigerator!

Okay, I realized today that a big part of being ‘ready’ for the holidays for me is CLEANING OUT. So this weekend? I started with the ‘fridge. I read Marsha’s post on cleaning off the front surface for an instant kitchen makeover. It’s FABULOUS instant gratification! (Besides, have YOU ever seen picture magnets on a kitchen in Architectural Diges?)

Success! It looked so great, I decided I needed to dive into the interior! What shadowy leftovers lurked between the turkey and swiss? No, I wasn’t growing my own penicillin, but I figured out that, before I started pre-cooking for the holidays, maybe I’d better see what was really in there. (read on)

A garbage bag and two sinkfuls later, I surfaced for air. Every surface inside was clean, and even more, I knew that I had a.) enough meatballs for a 60’s cocktail party, b.) way too many freezer-burned hot dog buns, and c.) YES! three filet mignons for one last before-it’s-too-late-to-cook-out patio dinner! The tupperware is ready to be filled anew with homemade vegetable soup, chicken & broccoli curry, and some drop-in-company-ready yummy hors d’oeurvres.

I’m cleaned out and ready for a fresh holiday start!
